Health and Wellness

If a person is healthy, it implies that the person has no worries and has everything sorted out. In today’s world that can only apply to billionaires and children. Most children actually, since billionaires have to constantly worry about wealth. No pun intended. How can a person be completely healthy and well? How much is that important to us on a personal level? Is it even achievable? These are questions we tend to ask. There’s no definitive answer, but there sure are a lot of ways to go.

Balance Mental and Spiritual

Balance Mental and Spiritual

There are many facets to a person’s personality. Some physical while others are metaphysical. Some you can clearly see and understand. While others you need a keen eye just to sense their presence. Mental and Spiritual aspects of a person fall into the latter category.

None the less, a person’s mental and spiritual health determines what kind of behavior he/ she will exhibit. It also creates what some say the “aura” of a person. If you can strike the perfect balance, then there is no earthly power that can stop you. The mental and spiritual facet is something that comes primarily from Asian knowledge. It is believed that in the hierarchy, the spiritual body comes before the mental body. Therefore, maintaining a healthy spiritual aspect can help you maintain the latter.

You can meditate to find your spiritual balance. For some, it is about religion. If that’s the case for you, then studying the religious text, practicing self-consciousness, delving into philosophy can help you find the spiritual balance.

As for nutrition for your mental body, books are the best tools. Discipline and focus are required if one aims to expand their mental faculties. One common practice is to make a list of things to do. And then tick off the list one-after-the-other. Staying away from negativity can help you keep your mental health perfect.

Maintain Healthy Weight

Maintain Healthy Weight

A person’s weight determines the course of action his/her life would take. Time and again, maintain a healthy weight is recommended. Obesity is bad. And so is malnutrition. You need to make sure that you do not fall into either camp.

There are many ways to maintain a healthy weight. Adoption of healthy habits, regular exercise, healthy food – to name a few. If you want to know what obesity can do to you, then just go to Google.com and search for the number of people who have diabetes, cardiovascular diseases like stroke and heart attack, compromised immunity system. It is said that the urine of a person with diabetes contains so much sugar that it can be processed and remade into a single malt whiskey. Now whether one would want that to happen is a completely different thing. You will find similar results if you search for the effects of being underweight.

In today’s world, asking someone to maintain healthy weight counts as body shaming. You can decide which route to take here. It is not about body shaming but maintaining a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI for short). You don’t need to watch your weight in this case. Watching your BMI can tell a lot about whether you are obese or underweight.

Personal Health and Wellness

Personal Health and Wellness

The definition of being healthy, as given by the World Health Organization is, “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” That is being health and wellness, however, it has a broader meaning.

If one were to term a person as being completely well, then the components of wellness that one would have to consider include, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social as well as physical health and wellness. Whoa! That’s a lot of things to consider, right?

A person can only be termed as being completely well when he/she:

  • Has no financial worries.
  • Is mentally balanced.
  • Has her spiritual facet completely under control.
  • Has no diseases, i.e., physically healthy.
  • Has good social bonds.

Naturally, that’s something that most of us today do not have.

However, it is not completely out of reach. One can always strive to strike the perfect social balance. Having a good friend circle is a start. Being a person of the word can help you with your professional life. As for health, the adoption of healthy habits is the way to go. So it’s not something unachievable. It’s just something you have to work towards.
